Last Friday (the 12th), I got to go see the Black Eyed Peas in concert at the Sommet Center. Now, that was a freakin blast. My good friend Leslie arranged for a limo to take us (she and I, and a few girls from her office) downtown; it’s always fun to ride in style. Opening acts were LMFAO and Ludacris. That may sound like an odd combination, but it was a great way to kick off the night. I was surprised at how many songs I knew by both groups. Well, and then the BEPs came out and it was all over. Damn they know how to put on a good show. Fergie was amazing; I kept saying “Its really her, its really her”. Haha. will.i.am rocked it out and I heard he DJ’d later at one of the clubs downtown. We just limo-ed it to Whiskey Kitchen for a drink or two after the show. Overall, it was a spectacular night and a great extension of my birthday (as the ticket was a bday present from Leslie).

Speaking of my birthday, I have to say it has got to be one of my best birthdays ever (my Sweet 16 on a boat was pretty sweet). On my actual birthday, a small group of friends and I enjoyed a delicious, relaxing meal at Flyte and ended the night at Mafiaoza’s for an additional cocktail. I took it easy on Thursday in order to prepare for Friday, which was the main event! Another good friend, Kristin, used her inside connections to secure us two King Suites at the Hutton Hotel and arranged for 12 of my girlfriends to party on the town and then crash at the hotel. We started out with tipsy madlibs and then got all dolled up in the suite before calling up our favorite taxi driver, who just happened to be driving his limo that night (same one as above). So we all piled in to the limo to go three blocks to midtown where we partied it up at Broadway Brewhouse and Hollywood Disco. Afterwords, we headed to Broadway and danced our hearts out at Decades. Altogether I think we danced for about three hours.

And my feet were not happy with me the next day. The next week really. I guess wearing heels that are slightly too small and constrict your toes is not a great idea. From the ball of my foot to the tip of my toes, I had a tingling sensation, like when they get super cold, for 8 days. I had them checked out and found out it could last for weeks, but luckily I recovered quickly. I will, however, use that as a lesson and not subject my feet to such torture ever again. Here’s to good intentions.

This weekend I’m participating in a Habitat for Humanity home build with my co-workers. I’ve never done one before (and now realize how difficult it is to arrange/sponsor a build) so I’m pretty excited. I’m just hoping for somewhat nice weather, as the build will happen no matter what. I’ll try to get some pictures posted afterwords!

1) Most mornings I have to blow dry my hair, straighten it, and then curl it a little.

2) I watch the Disney Channel. A Lot.

3) This is the first time I’ve lived alone EVER in my LIFE.

4) There are 5 clothes closets in my place and they are all full with my clothes.

5) I like going to the Humane Society on Saturdays to walk the dogs and pet the kittens.

6) When I write in fun colors at work, it makes everything seem more exciting.

I think a good place to start is that I got a promotion! Whoo hoo. On July 21st I am starting my new position of Manager of IT Operations for a new off-site facility. It is a great opportunity for me to use the skills I’ve acquired over the past 5 years and to learn a whole lot more about everything IT. Its very exciting and I’m doing my share of celebrating.

Tonight I went to the French Quarter Cafe with my co-worker/friend Melissa to see her husband perform. He was really excellent and its a surprisingly cool venue. The stage itself was pretty impressive. I ran into my blogger buddy, Annie Parsons, who was slated to perform after a few more rounds. I thought we would stay long enough to see her, but we ended up heading out before she got ready to play. I really hope I can see her perform soon, since she is totally Nashville-music-scene worthy.

Speaking of Nashville music scene, a friend and I went to a friendly Irish bar in Green Hills as phase II of our night out last night and enjoyed the musical stylings of….some guy who did covers. Sorry, didn’t catch his name. We all sang loudly and threw darts and had a great time. Until one of us slipped in the rain in the parking lot. Yeah…that’s gonna hurt.

OMG, is the mom in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” new??? She has the same hairdo, same body structure, but she doesn’t walk the same or have the expressionisms. Yes, expressionisms. And yes, I watch the Disney channel. Hannah Montana is on next.

Speaking of Hannah Montana…oh, I cant. But I’m working on something exciting that may eventually involve her. Hopefully. We’ll see. Night loves.

My new place is a cute spacious duplex not far from work (a “scoot ride”, I always say) that is the top floor of an “old money” home in West Nashville. Its at least 1200 sq ft and I have the coolest downstairs neighbors. We’ve already planned a Sunday at the humane society, which I do frequently, and they get regular tickets to the Titans games, so you know I’m excited about that. I was really lucky to find this place and I’m going to make it my own. Which I’ve never done. Every action will be deliberate because I want it to be that way.

Of course there are moments of solace interlaced into this time of change, and if you desire to know that element of my experience, please email me, as it is too personal to put here. I do see this as a new start, but also know that my life is forever impacted by the past 7 years and I have no intention of forgetting that time.

Jury Duty on Monday wasn’t too bad, although I spent half my day just waiting. Everyone had warned me about that though, so I brought a book, which I almost finished. Anyway, I was part of a group brought up to the 6th floor (criminal courts) where we waited to enter the courtroom for jury selection. And we waited. And waited. Finally, they brought all of us inside to tell us that the case we’d been waiting to be picked for was resolved while we waited out in the hallway! The two defendants both plead guilty and that was pretty much it. So they let us go on Monday at noon! Not bad.

Then of course yesterday was Super Tuesday, although I was slightly disappointed when I found out that just because we voted yesterday didn’t mean we would actually know anything concrete on Tuesday. I just don’t follow the voting process close enough to know that the real decision isn’t made until AUGUST! And our little votes don’t really count for anything except to show our delegates how we’d like them to vote, even if that means they don’t end up voting that way. I guess I just thought by voting I was doing something a little more affective or influential.

To round things off, I just want to make a quick mention of the storms we had last night. The rain and wind at our house was pretty crazy, but I would have to say it was nothing I hadn’t seen before. The hail was fun though. We were able to stand on our front porch and watch it all come down. We were lucky enough to not have any damage or real threat of damage to our neighborhood, even though the big red circles that mean “tornado” seemed to be awfully close to our house on the “super duper live radar doppler” things. Watching the TV scared me more than the actual storm. The thunder and lightening were a bit exciting, like always, and we made it out unscathed.
