If you hate it now…
You’re going to be even more disappointed. I’ve transformed my whole website with this CSS style. But I think I can do something that gives you choices on what theme you want to use when you view it, but I haven’t figured that out yet.
Working on this is fun though. I’m not that great at websites, but I have managed to design two lately for some friends. One is for the girl who did the wedding-day coordination for our wedding. I doubt she’ll mind some free advertisement, so I’ll tell you, the site is Weddings by Mary Alice. Its very simple, but serves her needs, so that makes me happy.
The other is for a theatre buddy of mine who owns his own set design/construction company called Stone House Scenic. It is a work in progress, but, again, serves his immediate needs. He has another company related to sketch comedy and I hope to help work on that website too. Although he wants to put videos and stuff on it, so I’m not really sure what the best way to do that is, other than linking to youtube.

Hi there… just curious, what did you use to design those sites? Someone recently asked me if I could design a Web site for him, but the only programs I have access to for free are Dreamweaver and iWeb (ick for professional stuff, I think) and though I work with Web development type stuff, I’m worried what the learning curve is …
Anyway, those sites look good, and congrats! :)

Thanks! The wedding site is actually a free css template I found (you can see the credits at the bottom of the homepage) and the other I used Photoshop to make the buttons and graphics. Then I just edited the files in a text editor. I don’t really use any web designing software, I just edit the code. My first website was done all in hard coded HTML that I edited in Notepad! Thank goodness there are better text editors now. I use Crimson Editor, but there are a lot of free ones. But they don’t help with the programming at all, they just make the code easier to read.
That’s probably not much help, sorry!
