I know this is old news to ya’ll who’ve lived in the south all your lives, but this pollen stuff just drives me crazy! I cannot believe how much is produced every night and manages to land itself on my car! This morning, wet with the overnight rain, my car was covered, I mean COVERED in wet, sticky, clumpy pollen. It really looked like it had grown a layer of fur.
Even though I was running late AND it was raining, I just had to get some of it off, so I went down the street to a drive through carwash and actually paid to have it washed off my car. Unfortunately, I did not get a “before” picture because I didn’t want to stand out in the rain, but just to emphasize how much pollen there was, I took an “after” picture once I got into the garage at work (sorry for the sideways shot):

I mean, come on! That’s ridiculous!

You’re going to be even more disappointed. I’ve transformed my whole website with this CSS style. But I think I can do something that gives you choices on what theme you want to use when you view it, but I haven’t figured that out yet.
Working on this is fun though. I’m not that great at websites, but I have managed to design two lately for some friends. One is for the girl who did the wedding-day coordination for our wedding. I doubt she’ll mind some free advertisement, so I’ll tell you, the site is Weddings by Mary Alice. Its very simple, but serves her needs, so that makes me happy.
The other is for a theatre buddy of mine who owns his own set design/construction company called Stone House Scenic. It is a work in progress, but, again, serves his immediate needs. He has another company related to sketch comedy and I hope to help work on that website too. Although he wants to put videos and stuff on it, so I’m not really sure what the best way to do that is, other than linking to youtube.

I just washed both of our cars, only to have them be covered in pollen by tomorrow morning. But if I wait to clean them until there’s no more pollen falling from the trees, I may not wash them till September. Better to make some progress, right?

At a work luncheon today we started talking about the unknown sex of the pregnant woman’s baby and I just knew I should’ve been covering my ears. I am the only one in my work group who does not have a child, and two couples just recently had their first child, so there is always talk about gross baby stuff. Well, today they were talking about how the pregnant woman and her husband are choosing not to find out the sex of the baby until the delivery, but how they were going today for the appointment that would tell them the sex, if they were going to find out. Then they started talking about the first baby and how they couldn’t really even see the sex on the ultrasound, even though the doctor was able to identify it. She described it to them like this: “It either looks like a turtle or a hamburger”.
[pause]
For some reason, I was okay with the turtle part, but the hamburger part made me a little queasy. That visual just doesn’t sit right with me. And why did we have to talk about that at lunch??

I haven’t come up with anything to blog about in the past few days, so I thought I’d blog about not blogging. That’s the problem with having a blog. When I don’t have anything to blog about, I feel like I’m doing a disservice to those who have chosen to follow my blog. But I don’t want to just make stuff up. I don’t know how Aunt B does it, but she always has something interesting and though provoking to say. Usually numerous times a day. I wish I could be like that.
I didn’t really do much this weekend. Friday night I watched as Vanderbilt lost in the NCAA championships by 1 point in the final 1.5 minutes. It was very sad. I was out with a couple friends at Cabana in the Village and the whole restaurant went silent. But there was nothing we could do. It was almost like we needed, as a group, to find something to do to make the situation better, but we couldn’t. It was a very empty, lost feeling. Then we went bowling, where I was reprimanded for trying to take pictures, so I don’t have any pictures for you. Sawry.

Is it not bad enough that American Idol does all it can to humiliate untalented hopefuls during the tryouts? Now they have to repeatedly zoom in on a clearly disturbed child as she has a nervous breakdown while watching the show? Come on. Enough is enough!
But in case you disagree, here are a few pictures of the poor dear for your enjoyment:

So I think I’ve settled on this green theme. Hope its not too green. But in honor of spring, and its appropriately warm and sunny arrival, in addition to the fact that my website has the word “garden” in it, I figured green would be a good choice.
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve added a Flickr feed at the bottom of my sidebar. It took a few tries, but its working now. Guess this means I better start taking more pictures so you don’t get bored. I upgraded my Flickr account to “pro” today, so I can upload as many as I want, which means I can take pictures of my shoes for your enjoyment and not have to worry about maxing out my quota. Aren’t you lucky?
